Moving forward with fertility treatments came with a lot of uncertainty for me. However, I truly felt I had done my due diligence in knowing my body well and making sure we were doing everything right to try to get pregnant naturally. So I am sharing with you some of the best ways to track ovulation to help you get pregnant or to avoid it. These are in order from free to most expensive. I’ve done them ALL!

Ovulation Tracking Apps
These are both free apps you can track your monthly cycle and they’ll tell you when you’re ovulating. I used both of them because I would compare what they each said as it was sometimes a bit different. If you have an irregular cycle, this option may not work the best for you as they predict based on what your typical month looks like. You can also track other signs of ovulation in the app such as cervical mucus. Side note: egg white type mucus is the best sign of a good time to try!
Ovulation Predictor Kits
OPKs are typically sticks you’ll pee on when it’s getting close to ovulation time (this will vary depending on your cycle but the kit with come with suggestions on when to start) that will tell you if you are ovulating. It’s helpful and reassuring to know it’s definitely the right time to try! I started off with the most basic and inexpensive sticks, but after a few months of that, I upped my investment. Check out my suggestions below.
The Clear Blue OPK is a bit pricier, but will tell you the peak time to try and then the HIGH time. My husband traveled a lot for work during this time so it was really helpful for us to have this extra information. Even though, I didn’t get pregnant naturally, I feel confident we at least tried at the most perfect time!
Basal Body Thermometer
Your basal body temperature (BBT) is your body’s temperature is your body’s resting temperature which is typically a bit lower than your normal body temperature. BBT must be taken first thing when you wake up before getting out of bed for the most accurate reading. Your BBT will spike a few days after ovulation. You may be thinking “hmm…well that doesn’t seem too helpful!” And you’re right – it isn’t helpful to know you ovulated a few days ago! However, it is another measure that can help you understand your cycle. The thermometer I am recommending below also comes with an app that will help predict the best time to try.
The Ava Bracelet
This is the most expensive way to track ovulation right off the bat, however, it’s not something you’ll need to buy more of like OPKs. I decided to splurge on the Ava bracelet as my last ditch effort because coming in at a shocking $249, that is STILL way easier and cheaper than fertility treatments. Ava basically looks like a watch you wear to bed. In the morning it syncs to an app on your phone. The bracelet is very high tech and tracks stats such as skin temperature, resting pulse rate, heart rate variability ratio, perfusion and breathing rate which are all used to calculate your ovulation time.
